The Beginning - Lagiesan Dynasty

1700s - Origins

Our family salutation is "Lagiesan," from the Ezomo dynasty. It is therefore pertinent to trace the family roots from Ezomo n' Ehennua, the first hereditary Ezomo of Benin around the year 1713 A.D. Ehennua's father, Iza, relocated from Evburhu village in Evboikhinmwin, Ishan, to Okhuokhuo in Isi, in the present Uhunmwode LGA during the reign of Oba Ewuakpe. There, Ehunnua was born. It is generally accepted that Ehunnua's father, Iza, was one of the sons of the then Enogie of Evburhu, who migrated to Okhuokhuo in Isi, hence the family morning salutation of "Lagiesan."
